Twenty years promoting literacy in T.O.

The 2009 literacy festival celebrated the 20th anniversary of The Word on the Street Festival, and what a celebration it was! New programs were unveiled, murals were created, and Canada’s own literary maverick, Margaret Atwood, took to the stage for an exclusive reading. Families had plenty to be excited about at the Festival as well, thanks to engaging activities in the KidStreet area. Adults were all about the Cooks ‘n’ Books Stage, while the World Food Market was in constant state of hungry chaos. Word on the street is the 2009 festival was the best yet!

Authors at the festival

Since 1990, the Word on the Street Festival has hosted some of the finest literary talent from across the nation. These writers come from far and wide, the New York Best Seller’s list and independent publishers. But they all have the same goal in mind – providing their readers with an amazing story.
