What's in a name?
In his day, he was larger than life, a Montreal and McGill University sports legend. Instrumental in gaining city approval for the construction of the stadium, Captain Percival Molson was a McGill graduate and sports hero. Winning a Stanley Cup with the Montreal Victorias in 1896, Percival was named McGill's best all around athlete three years in a row. Molson also competed in, and won several track and field championships in Canada and the United States including participating in the 1904 Olympics. After this, Percival Molson was shipped overseas to fight in World War I. Unfortunately, Molson was killed in action in France in 1917.
